Jeanette Lias , 75, of Akron, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Jeanette K. Lias was born May 4th, 1946, at Akron Hospital to Edward & Esther (Miller) Sand. She passed away peacefully in Sioux Falls, SD on September 2, 2021.
Jeanette grew up on a farm north of Richland, SD where she attended Pleasant Valley country school and graduated from Akron High School in 1964.
Jeanette was united in marriage with Ron Christensen of Salix, Iowa on September 4, 1965, they had two children. During their years together, they made many friends while living in Clovis, NM (Air Force base), Sioux City, IA, Stone Mountain, GA, Richmond, VA, Manassas, VA, Bethel Park, PA, Starbuck, MN, Shorewood, IL, Coon Rapids, MN, Salix, IA and Springfield, MO.
Throughout her life she always stayed busy. She worked as a professional photographer, was a Senior Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics and was a Supervisor/Trainer for MCI where she retired.
Jeanette moved back to her hometown of Akron and married Jerry Lias on February 25th, 2000. In their retirement they enjoyed playing golf and darts, working on their house and yard and traveling to Branson, MO during the winter months.
Jeanette was a member of the United Methodist Church in Akron. She was a huge Iowa basketball fan and also enjoyed going to Morningside basketball games. Other enjoyment included playing her guitar, decorating and listening to all kinds of music.
Family and Friends were Jeanette's true passion in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with friends. Whether it was afternoon coffee, playing cards or just a random call to visit, she touched many lives in a way that will be truly missed.
She was grateful for having shared her life with her loving husband Jerry, son David (Lorri) Christensen of Branson, MO, daughter Kathy (Andy) Brouillette of Salix, IA, stepson Ryan (Shannon) Lias of South Sioux City, NE, stepson Robbie (Angela) VonHagel of Brunsville, IA, stepdaughter Heather (Gordy) Johnson of Akron, IA, sister, Fran (Al) Johnson of Englewood, CO, brother LeRoy (Sharon) Sand of Cottonwood, AZ, brother in law Denny (Julie) Lias of Arnolds Park, IA, sister in law Deb (Ray) Ramon of Mason City, IA, and 11 grandchildren; Dustin Richards, Tyler Morrison, Jacob, Lucas, Adam and Emily Brouillette, Cole Lias, and Tyler, Ashley and Samantha Johnson.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Esther Sand, brother John Sand and nephews Tony Sand and Kevin Johnson.
