JoAnn Eden, 81 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Akron Care Center.

A Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron with Pastor Barry Miedema officiating. Social distancing required and masks are recommended. Burial will be at Westfield Township Cemetery in Westfield, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Westfield Congregational United Church of Christ.

JoAnn Margaret Hummel was born on March 2, 1939 in Westfield, Iowa to Gordon and Margaret Hummel. She graduated from Alcester High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Roger Eden in August 1957. They later divorced. JoAnn had lived in several different states over the years: Westfield, IA, Arvada, CO, Las Vegas, NV, and Akron, IA. She worked in many of these places as well as Sioux City, Iowa and Denver, CO. She retired from MCI in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. She also cleaned for many homes in the Westfield and Akron area.

JoAnn loved her family very much. She enjoyed traveling and had been to Hong Kong, China, and Mexico. She loved the Black Hills and the buffalo round up. She was a counsel member for city of Westfield and she also worked in the voting booths. JoAnn loved her years living at Ridgewood Apartments in Akron and all her card playing friends. After an illness, she moved to the Akron Care Center in March of 2019. She went home to be with Jesus on September 22, 2020.

JoAnn is survived by her children: Mike (Kathy) Eden of Overbook, KS, Shella (Terry) Newell of Oskaloosa, KS, and Curt (Kathy) Eden of Westfield, IA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Janice Sampson of Sturgis, SD and Judy Gerdes of Hurley, SD.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents.
