John "Jack" Fara , 80, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Accura HealthCare of Le Mars.

Graveside service with military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Akron.  Reverend Trish Underberg of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church – Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa will officiate.  Visitation with the family present will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  Services will be uploaded to the funeral home website following the services.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

John Roland Fara was born June 8, 1940 on a farm in Preston Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of George and Bessie (Barker) Fara .  He attended country school at Preston #4 and later high school in Akron.

He enlisted in the United States Army.  Following his discharge, he returned to Plymouth County and started farming.

He was united in marriage to Jan Treft on June 14, 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa.  Jack and Jan farmed and owned and operated Fara's Dairy for over 25 years.  Jan passed away May 25, 2010.  Jack continued living on the farm until moving to Accura HealthCare in Le Mars in July of 2017.

Jack was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and enjoyed working in his yard.

Survivors include his adopted son in law, Dave Foley of Akron, IA, and his children, Dominick, Alex, and Daytona; his twin brother, Jim (Joanna) Fara of Cincinnati, OH; a sister in law , Ona Dean Fara of Manning, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jan Fara ; his sister, Mary Ann Fara ; his brother, Orland Fara ; and his adopted daughter, Cindy Foley.
