John Sitzmann, 51 of Fort Dodge, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.
Mass of Christian Burial for John Sitzmann will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Reverend Matthew Solyntjes celebrating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – Neptune, rural Hinton, Iowa. On Sunday, August 11, 2019 a Parish rosary will begin at 4:00 p.m. Following will be a visitation with the family and a Scriptural Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made in John's name for his family to use at a later date.
John Gerald Sitzmann was born on July 26, 1968 to Gerald and Dolores (Kommes) Sitzmann. He grew up on the family farm in rural Hinton, Iowa. John attended and graduated from Gehlen Catholic School in 1986. He then attended Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon, Iowa and graduated with a degree in applied science in the electrical specialist program. John began a career as an electrician. He started working at Fort Dodge Laboratories and worked at various other jobs before beginning and operating his own business. John was mechanically gifted; he could fix just about anything and was very tech savvy. He was also an avid outdoors man. He was the president of the Fort Dodge Water Sports Association and spent much of his free time at the Association's private quarry. He had a passion for jet skiing, fishing, hunting, gardening, snowmobiling, and mountain biking.
John was a kind and thoughtful person who made his family a priority; his adventurous spirit led to many annual outings, one of which was the Fathers Day Fishing Trip with his sons, brothers, and nephews. He was a great father, brother, uncle, and friend. John always supported and encouraged his son's in all their extracurricular activities.
John continues to give even after his death by being an organ and tissue donor; he is able to bless many others with this selfless gift.
John is survived by his sons: Tristan Sitzmann and Payton Sitzmann of Fort Dodge, Iowa; siblings: Duane (Kaye) Sitzmann of Sioux Center, Iowa, Ray (Shelly) Sitzmann of Le Mars, Blaine (Wendi) Sitzmann of Clermont, Florida, and Brenda (Brian) Kolbeck of Le Mars; nieces and nephews: Haley (Ross) Rozeboom and Mandy Sitzmann, Colin (Risa), Devin, Linden, and Lauren Sitzmann, Landon and Winston Sitzmann, Josie, Alyssa, Nathan, and Breanna Kolbeck; longtime friends: Kurt Anderson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Tom Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many other relatives.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Dolores Sitzmann; a brother, Joseph Sitzmann; and a nephew, Blake Sitzmann.
