Johnnie F. Newton, Jr. , 56, of rural Le Mars, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 4, 2022 in McKinney, Texas.
Services will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Deacon Richard Port will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Johnnie Floyd Newton, Jr. was born August 31, 1965 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Johnnie Sr. and Jean Ann (Small) Newton. He attended school in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1983. Following high school, Johnnie began working as a cardiovascular technician in the Dallas and Irving, Texas area.
He was united in marriage to Sue Authier on June 11, 1988 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. He continued to work as a cardiovascular technician until relocating to Sioux City, Iowa in 1996. After changing careers, he worked as a welder for Load King in Elk Point, South Dakota until his retirement.
Johnnie enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He had many fond memories at Lake Texoma in Texas and on the Missouri River in South Dakota.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of rural Le Mars, Iowa; two children, Jackson Newton and Annie Newton, both of rural Le Mars, Iowa; his father, Johnnie Sr. (Candy) Newton of McKinney, Texas; two siblings: Jimmy Newton of Dallas, TX and Julie (John) Ogle of Arizona; and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Ann Newton; maternal and paternal grandparents; in-laws Wayne and Helen Authier; and a special aunt and uncle, Jack and Pam Small.
