Jon E. Hanson, 60, of Grimes, Iowa passed away on February 15, 2023 at home.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Deacon Paul Gengler from All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars will officiate.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jon Ernest Hanson was born on February 1, 1963 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Harlan and Phyllis (Lanegan) Hanson.  He attended Le Mars Community High School, graduating in 1981.  Following school, Jon began fulfilling his passion of being a truck driver.  He drove for 28 years before retiring in 2013 due to his health.

On June 6, 1987, Jon and Karla Schnoes were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa.  After several moves, they eventually made their home in Grimes, Iowa.

Jon enjoyed NASCAR, muscle cars, the Kansas City Chiefs and fishing with his son Sam.  A bottle of Diet Mt. Dew was never far from his hand.  During nice weather, he could be found in the garage making things from wood.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karla Hanson; sons: Samuel and Benjamin; sister Jana (Dan) Hoppe of LeMars; brothers: Jeff (Connie) Hanson of Le Mars, and Jay Hanson of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; in-laws: Lori Schnoes of Sutherland, Iowa, David (Joni) Schnoes of West Des Moines, Iowa, Leslie Ferris of Lawton, Iowa, Sarah (Rod) Rassel of Lawton, Iowa, and Aaron (Angie) Schnoes of Oyens, Iowa; plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Phyllis Hanson, in-laws, Leonard and Yvonne Schnoes, and his buddy Tito.
