She attended country school in Plymouth County and later high school in Le Mars. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School. Following high school, she began sewing at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars.
She was united in marriage to Robert Kluemper on September 20, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Bob and her five children became her primary focus for the rest of her life. Bob passed away on September 22, 1984.

Some of her favorite past times were watching golf on television or catching the latest episode of Jeopardy, Judge Judy, or Perry Mason. Of course, she just loved getting her hair fixed each week by Paula. She cherished every moment with her family, especially the times she had with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
