Joyce Scherner, 85 of Akron, Iowa, passed away at her home on Monday, November 27, 2023.

There will be no services.

Joyce Lorraine Waterbury was born on April 23, 1938 in Union County, South Dakota to Floyd and Genevieve (McMillan) Waterbury.

Joyce was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed going to coffee in Akron; she loved visiting with friends and family. Her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved spending time outside in the summer while watching the squirrels and birds.

Joyce is survived by her children: Leann (Jake) Weber of Sedona, AZ, Terry Johannsen of Glendale, AZ, Bradley (Lori) Johannsen of Sedona, AZ, and Rebecca Wiles of Akron, IA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Sandra Osterbuhr of Akron, IA, Floyd Jr. Waterbury of Hawarden, IA, and Beth (Dale) Sykes of Helena, MT; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; son, Arnell Johannsen; granddaughter, Lisa Weber; sister, Audrey (Keith) Seamond; brother in law, Marlin Osterbuhr; sister in law, Sharon Waterbury; nephew, Travis Tentinger; and husband, Arnold Johannsen.
