Judy E. Huygens, 79 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Judy Earlene Myers was born on December 13, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa to Glen and Lucy (Stansberry) Myers. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Bryant Elementary, North Junior High, and Central High School, all in Sioux City. Judy was united in marriage to her sweetheart and the love of her life Alan Huygens on December 31, 1962 in Sioux City, Iowa and they made their home in Sioux City. They later moved to Akron in 1969. In addition to being one half of J & A Transportation. Judy worked at various other jobs, but her favorite was being a homemaker, mom and grandmother. She would also travel with Alan when he drove truck and kept the books for their trucking business.

Judy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Akron and helped teach Sunday School there early on after their move to Akron. She and Alan were both licensed amateur radio operators and even volunteered at the air base when flight 232 crashed in Sioux City. Judy was a life-long animal lover and they had a variety of beloved pets over the years, and she would often donate to various animal rescue groups. She loved reading, crocheting, and shopping; specifically at craft shows. She also enjoyed making crafts, especially Christmas decorations. She was a great cook and her homemade pizza was always a favorite. Their family took many trips out west to Sturgis and the Black Hills over the years. Judy's favorite time was spent with her family and grandchildren. Judy was also a 30 year breast cancer survivor.

Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alan; two sons: Steve Huygens of Akron, IA, Jeff Huygens of Rochester, MN; one daughter, Teri Miller of Longview, TX; grandchildren: Trinity Miller and Aidan Miller of Longview, TX; siblings: Sally Behning, Dennis Myers, Ricky Myers, Arnie (Cathy Kempema) Myers; sisters in law: Barb Myers and Patty Myers; many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Joyce (Ken) Lowe, Jerry Myers, Joann (Neal) Faegre, and Earl Myers.
