Julie (Van Oort) Morrison , 64, of New Braunfels, Texas, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in New Braunfels.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Le Mars. Pastor Jon Meredith will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Julie Van Oort was born August 7, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Kay (Albeck) Van Oort. She grew up in Cherokee, Iowa and attended school.

Julie lived in various cities and states before settling in Texas. She lived in Buffalo and most recently in New Braunfels. Julie worked in law enforcement for several years with most of that time spent as a Deputy Sheriff for Leon County, Texas. She especially enjoyed teaching the D.A.R.E. program to young children and helping save children from abuse. Most recently, she had been working for Walmart.

Julie enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos. She also enjoyed taking cruise trips and spending time at the beach.

Survivors include her mother, Kay Van Oort of Le Mars; 4 children: Abraham (Jaime) Maske of Iowa, Jeremy (Christine) Maske of St. Charles, IA, Heather (Willie) Rhodes of Crosby, TX, and Holly (Caleb) Curtis of New Braunfels, TX; a step daughter, Brandy (Bruce) Powell of Lufkin, TX; several grandchildren; two siblings: Bob (Mary) Van Oort of Springfield, SD, and Lori Dolph (Doug Harms) of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Van Oort; and a brother, Tom Van Oort.
