Justin Thomas Stabe was born on September 16, 1969 in Le Mars, Iowa to Gene and Diane (Eastick) Stabe. At a young age, Justin's family moved to Akron where he attended school and graduated from Akron High School in 1988. Justin worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Justin worked in communications and traveled extensively during his military career. Justin was stationed in Iceland, South Korea, Italy, England, Saudi Arabia, and across the United States including Florida, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa. After 20 years of proudly serving his country, Justin was medically retired.
The greatest day of Justin's life was January 5, 2001, the day his beautiful daughter Lilly, affectionately nicknamed "Squeak", was born. She was his whole world, and he was so proud to be her father.
Justin was united in marriage on August 6, 2011, to Angie Shaputis at Latham Park in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived in Sioux City for a short time before making their home in Akron.
Justin was the official 'camp concierge' at the Lazy H Campground in Akron where he was often found helping Angie at check-in and assisting the guys around the grounds. He loved traveling and camping; he spent most of the summer nights around the campfire or mingling with guests. He also enjoyed sports; watching just about every sport but he especially loved Iowa State and the Dallas Cowboys.
Justin enjoyed riding his Harleys and his tractor; he drove his tractor giving hayrack rides and was honored to lead a memorial tractor parade at the campground. He was a great cook and made an excellent pot of chili. He loved planning meals for Thursday night "Boys' Night". Angie would often remind JT that every night was "Boys' Night" for him. Justin had a wide range in his taste of music, everything from Coldplay, classic 80's, to jazz.
Justin was the type of person who didn't know a stranger, his friends were his family, and his family was his life.
Justin had so many good friends from his time in the service and those who shared his childhood. Justin was a loyal friend and he will be missed by so many. He also had a beloved canine companion, Tug, who could be found riding shotgun with him in the side by side or in the golf cart. Justin and Tug were said to have shared many personal similarities.
Justin is survived by his wife, Angie; daughter, Lilly Stabe (Mason Froehlich) of Dakota Dunes; siblings: Eugene (Laurel) Stabe of Oklahoma City, OK and Kathy Stabe of Omaha, NE; father in law, Gregory (Connie) Shaputis of Sioux City; mother in law, Elaine (Randy Stratman) Tucker of Wynot, NE; siblings in law: Paul (Joan) Shaputis of Sioux City, IA, Matt (Maria) Tucker of Milwaukee, WI, and Brad (Lindsay) Tucker of Madison, WI; nieces and nephews: Zachary (Ashley) Stabe, Lucas (Marie) Stabe, AJ (Tommy) Stabe, Benjamin Shaputis, Katelyn Shaputis, Lilian Shaputis, Jack Tucker, and Addy Tucker; beloved dog, Tug; aunts/uncles, great nieces/nephews, and cousins from England and other extended family.
Justin is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Diane (Eastick) Stabe; maternal grandparents, Thomas Eastick and Kathleen Eastick Bray; paternal grandparents, Ray and Evelyn Stabe; and father in law, James 'Jimmy' Tucker; and other extended relatives.
