Kathleen 'Kathy' Faber, 79 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at her home in Akron.

Funeral Service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Kathleen Rae Faber was born on February 5, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa to Fred and Catherine (Murphy) Faber. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. Kathy was united in marriage to Jim Langley and they had three children: Pamela, Edward, and Sandra. They later divorced. Kathy lived in both Sioux City and Akron area over the years. Kathy primarily stayed home with her children while they were young. When her children were older, she worked for John Morrell in Sioux City and bartended at several establishments in the Sioux City area. Kathy was later married to Allen 'Corky' Thorngren, and they also divorced. She also worked for many years at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Kathy retired in 2010 but continued to keep busy with babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathy was a wonderful mom, aunt, grandma, and great grandma who always prioritized the needs of her family. Besides spending time with her family, Kathy enjoyed making crafts, shopping (especially from QVC), getting her nails done, and watching daytime drama talk shows. She will be greatly missed.

Kathy is survived by her children: Pamela Schmidt of Sioux Falls, SD, Edward Langley of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sandra (Gary) Taylor of Akron, IA; ten grandchildren: Travis Thorngren, Tammi (Lance) Vossberg, RJ Thorngren, Adam (Jamie) Langley, Andrew (Janna) Langley, Samantha (David Lynch) Langley, Sabrina Langley, Lukas Langley, Issac Langley, and Todd (Nicole) Taylor; eighteen great grandchildren: Lealand, Landyn, Addi, Kaidync, Paityn, Kloey, Brynleigh, Lynkin, Haleigh, Jaice, Derek, Gavin, Jalyn, Koltyn, Kyzer, Brooklyn, Skylar, and Jemma; four siblings: Anita Zeitler, Linda Macklem, Fred Faber, and Frances Faber; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons: Timothy Langley and Joshua Langley; and three sisters: Mary Mae Marshall, Beverly Jean Burke, and Paulette (Andrew) Gorter.
