Kay Romaine Parkin, 76, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on February 22, 2024, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's. She fought with courage, positivity, and humor. She was surrounded by family and loved ones as she made her way into Heaven.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 1 p.m. at United Methodist Church in LeMars, Iowa. A dessert reception will follow at the church. Please wear something that is reflective of her colorful personality. Kay was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, and made her home in LeMars, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Davidson and Hazel Willhite, and her half-brothers, Bob and Ken Myers. She is survived by her children, Jason (Kelly), Jen (Jim), Carrie, and Josh (Dory), and her grandchildren Lakyn, Zoe, Emma, Kyah, Sam, Gaige, Maddox, Nolen, Hudson, and Elliot.

Kay was creative, kind, witty, loving, and accepting. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and unwavering faith. Her talents knew no bounds and she poured her imagination into everything she did. She was a watercolor artist, she wrote songs and poems for every occasion, and she was always the first to laugh at herself.

She had a pure and simple childlike faith in God that guided her throughout her life. She lived out her faith through her gentle spirit and selfless heart. It was by far Kay's greatest trait which she humbly demonstrated through her actions, cheerful personality, and ability to see the best in everything.

Kay was active in her community. She served as the President of the LCHS School Board, the LCHS PTA, and served on the board of the Floyd Valley Hospital Bazaar. She also worked at Staples Promotional Products for many years.

While Kay was influential in her community, her favorite role was being a loving mother and she was passionately dedicated to her family. She raised four children, and her house was always overflowing with people, accepting everyone as one of her own.

Kay's brain never stopped creating, as she spent countless hours drawing, crafting, and filling her journals with whimsical ideas and Bible verses. Her home was always full of singing, dancing, and laughter. She enjoyed animals, admiring the trees outside her window, the warm sun on her face, and a majestic blue sky.

Kay was a source of optimism, and a shining example of strength, compassion, and empathy. Her lively personality and witty humor will be missed by all who knew her and her creative and infectious spirit will continue to live on.
