Kay Freking, 82 of LeMars, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at Floyd Valley Hospital surrounded by family.
Funeral Service will be at noon on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday and will continue until the service time. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Margaret Kay Heidbrink was born on September 29, 1941 in Le Mars. She was the daughter of Louis Henry Heibrink and Marguerite Henrietta (Kading) Heidbrink. Kay was united in marriage to Harold Freking on September 26, 1964. The couple made their home and farmed southeast of Le Mars. In their 60 years of marriage, they raised three sons and a daughter. Kay enjoyed working for many years at NW Iowa Community credit union. Kay was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Kay was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars and enjoyed her LWML activities and friendships. Kay enjoyed baking, gardening and her and Harold shared a love for being together on their farm.
Kay is survived by her devoted husband, Harold; four children: Bradley (Kathy) Freking of Saronville, NE, Brian Freking of Keota, OK, Bruce Freking of Le Mars, IA and Michelle (Jason) VanderWeele of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren: Luke Pawlowski, Jonathan Pawlowski, Andrew Pawlowski, Lacey Freking, Jessica Freking, Kyra VanderWeele and Kaidan VanderWeele; great-grandson, Triton; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Delores Schultz; brothers: Wesley Heidbrink and Duane Heidbrink; two infant sisters and an infant brother; and grandchildren: Shane Pawlowski and Jacob VanderWeele.
