Kenneth 'Ken' Clayton Plueger, 92 of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at his home in Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2025 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary immediately following all on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Kenneth Clayton Plueger was born on May 30, 1933 to John and Clairbel (Bonnichsen) Plueger in Maurice, Iowa. Ken grew up on various farms in Northwest Iowa before their family moved into Le Mars in 1944. Ken attended Le Mars Community High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in June of 1951. While in the Navy, he served as a radio man and traveled around the world on the USS Monssen DD 798. Ken was honorably discharged in June of 1955 and returned home to Le Mars.

He began working in construction as a bricklayer for several contractors in the Le Mars and Sioux City areas. He formed his own business in 1958 and worked as a masonry contractor until his retirement.

Ken was united in marriage to Contance Wanderscheid on September 1, 1956 and they made their home in Le Mars.

In his retirement years, Ken's favorite hobby was building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Wings RC Club in Le Mars for many years. He enjoyed camping and boating, taking weekend trips to Yankton while their children were young. In 1977, Ken and Connie built a home on Lake Shetek that they enjoyed for 22 years. Ken also enjoyed going snowmobiling with family and friends. He volunteered for many projects around Le Mars, some of his favorites were: volunteering for the Color Guard for military funeral honors, building floats for the lighted Children's Christmas parade, and volunteering for the Plymouth County Museum. Ken was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Ken was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. He served on the church building and grounds committee and built the brick addition to the front of the church, allowing the indoor ramp to access the sanctuary and the church basement.

Ken is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Connie; four children: Valentina (Gary) Teska of Lincoln, NE, Pamela (Steve) Martinez of Germantown Hills, IL, Gregory (Sarah) Plueger of Hinton, IA, and Stacy (Keith) Harms of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Joshua (Angel) Plueger, Eric Plueger, Megan (Ryan) Wager, Thomas Martin, Melissa (Tim) Lehman, Keaton Teska, and Taylor Teska; great grandchildren: Jackson Plueger, Abree Plueger, Robert 'Bobby' Martin, Benjamin Wager, Liam Wager, and Harley Wager; siblings: Eugene Plueger and Stanley (Pat) Plueger of Le Mars, Sandy Dougan of Denver, CO, and Lawanda (John) Mendez of Gering, NE; sister in law, Sally Plueger; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; parents in law, Roman and Celeste (Ruba) Wanderscheid; granddaughter, Nikki Harms; son in law, Jerry Martin; siblings: Robert Plueger, Carol (Weymond) Drake, Jacquilyn (Eddie) Carson, Donald (Mabel) Plueger, Armeda (Jim) Freel, and Lyle Dean in infancy; and siblings in law: Dolores Plueger and Ray Murray.
