Kenneth Frerichs, 76, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church – Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa. Reverend Trish Underberg will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday and following the service during a time of fellowship, all at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made in Ken's name to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church – Preston Township or to the Akron-Westfield FFA Program.
Kenneth Dean Frerichs, the son of Elmer and Arlene (Jurgensen) Frerichs, was born on February 4, 1948, in Akron, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church – Preston Township. He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1966.
Ken farmed in Preston Township his whole life. He made his home on the Frerichs Century Farm. He also raised hogs and cattle. After his retirement, he remained on the farm until moving to the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars in March of 2023.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church – Preston Township. He served on the church cemetery board for many years. While in high school, he was active in FFA. Ken was a longtime member of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau. Ken loved classic cars and tractors. He attended many car shows with the Tri-State Cruisers. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. He also enjoyed his animals, especially his dogs and cats.
Survivors include several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Arlene Frerichs.
