Lacey Lynn Plank-Gaustad was born on September 18, 1989 in Pipestone, MN. She was the love child of Kristine Ann Plank and Robert Edwin Gaustad. Lacey was born into poverty and her parents struggled with drugs and alcohol; she was placed into foster care at the age of 7. Lacey moved from school to school, attending 12 different schools in 12 years. She made many friends along the way and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 2008.

Lacey met Brian Overman and they were married in 2012. Lacey struggled with her ability to accept and know true love, and they divorced in 2022. Lacey kept her married name, Overman, as to keep the same last name as the two beautiful and perfect boys they had, Boston and Pierce. Boston Robert was born in 2011 and he was the most perfect surprise. Pierce Robert was born in 2015 and completed the missing piece in their family. Lacey loved her boys more than life itself.

One of Lacey's greatest accomplishments was graduating from nursing school; she graduated with her RN degree from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA in 2015 and obtained her Bachelors of Nursing Science degree from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA in 2018.

Lacey was previously employed at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD and most recently working at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. She always enjoyed watching and cheering on her boys in all of their sporting events. Lacey also loved listening to music; she had a vinyl record collection and some of her favorite music was inspired by Frida Kahlo.

Lacey struggled to find her place in this world. She never quite felt at home anywhere and the death of her parents and maternal grandmother affected her deeply. The world became too heavy and too unkind for her. Lacey loved everyone in her life deeply, especially Pierce and Boston. Lacey struggled with anxiety, depression, and substance abuse, but she never wanted those struggles to define who she was.

Lacey is survived by her sons: Boston and Pierce Overman of Hull, Iowa; brother, Nick Plank of Le Mars, Iowa; maternal grandfather: Kenneth Paul Plank of Le Mars; uncles: Cal (Kris) Olson and their children: Benjamin, Melanie and families, Brian (Rachel) Gaustad and their children: Tom, Branden, Riley, Kayden and families, Kipp Plank and his children, Athena (Mason Bakker) Plank and Rick (Ashlyn Peck) Plank and his children: Alex and Jade; great uncles: Mark (Cheryl) Juhl and Dale (Faith) Juhl both of Remsen, IA; other extended relatives and many friends.

Lacey is preceded in death by her mother, Kristine Redhouse; father, Robert Gaustad; maternal grandmother, Judy Plank; paternal grandparents, Hazel Olson and Delvern Gaustad; and sister in law, Jen (Adolph) Plank.
