Obituary

LaDonna Oltmanns , 89, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Craig, Iowa , passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Craig, Iowa . Reverend Trish Underberg will officiate . Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Craig . Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars . There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church . Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars . LaDonna Ida Klave was born August 10, 1932 in Craig, Iowa, the daughter of Harm and Edna (Eggebrecht) Klave . She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig . She attended grade school in Craig and later high school in Ireton . She graduated from Ireton High School . Following high school, she moved to Sioux City where she did office work.

She was united in marriage to a "blue eyed" man named Larry Oltmanns on April 8, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig . Early on, she was a homemaker for the family . After her children were grown , she went to work in production at Harker's in Le Mars . Later, she was the church secretary in Craig and was also their janitor . In 2018, she and Larry moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars . Larry passed away June 26, 2020 .

LaDonna was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig where she was active on the Altar committee for many years. She enjoyed camping at Cutty's in Okoboji . LaDonna was an organizer, cleaner, and perfectionist and always kept her home in tip top shape . She also enjoyed making quilts and wall hangings for her family . She always had beautiful flower gardens around her home that she enjoyed taking care of every spring and summer . Most of all, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren . She loved watching them participate in their activities and events .

Survivors include a daughter and her family: Marla (Scott) Koopman of Le Mars, IA , and their children, Tyler (Kayla) Koopman and their children, Claire, Connor, and Cora, and Nicole Koopman; a son and his family: Chad (Jen) Oltmanns of Akron, IA, and their daughter, Tara; 3 siblings: Joyce (Roger) Lunstra of Brandon, SD, Wayne (Vickie) Schuette of Milford, IA, and LouDell Schuette of Craig, IA; 3 sisters in law: Mary Ann Miller of East Troy, WI, Marlene (Ronald) Hanstein of Le Mars, IA, and Karen Schoenrock of Hinton, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Eda Klave; her husband, Larry Oltmanns; her son, Terry Oltmanns; her stepfather, Ernie Schuette; her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Anna Oltmanns; two sisters and their husbands, LaVonne (Merlyn) Miller and Jerlois (Wilbur) Renken; a brother-in-law, Jerry Schoenrock; and a sister-in-law in infancy, Joan Elizabeth Oltmanns.
