Larry 'Buzz' Gotto, 75 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 27, 2020.

There will be a private burial at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars with military honors at a later date.

Lawrence 'Buzz' Edward Gotto was born on November 10, 1945 in Le Mars to Benedict 'Ben' and Loretta (McDermott) Gotto. He attended and graduated from Gehlen High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where he worked as a painter in car body shop. Buzz later moved back to Le Mars where he joined Singer Body Shop where he worked until he retired.

Buzz was a member of the Eagle's and the Wasmer American Legion in Le Mars.

Buzz loved to go fishing, gamble, and play cards. They rented a cabin in Alexandria, Minnesota and spent many summers there fishing. Buzz and Marilyn also loved to travel; they went several times to Las Vegas and the Carolinas. Buzz had a great sense of humor and was often teasing Marilyn, his sisters, and his great grandsons.

Buzz is survived by his significant other of 35 years, Marilyn Laughton; son, Shannon 'Shane' Gotto of South Carolina; stepchildren: Marty Laughton of Merrill, Iowa, Todd Laughton of Big Stone City, South Dakota, and Suzy (Paul) Wollman of Merrill, Iowa; grandchildren: Courtney, Holly, Annalyse, and Carther all of South Carolina; step grandchildren: Wes (Mercedes) Bremmer of Kingsley, Iowa, Dylan Reiter of Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, Dustan Reiter of Merrill, Iowa, and Blake (Gracie) Laughton of Iowa City, Iowa; great grandson, Cavin; step great grandchildren: Michael, Gage, Parker, and Remy; siblings: Karen Hagar of Le Mars, Iowa, Marlene (Mike) Gengler of Le Mars, Iowa, Donna Hoffman of Le Mars, Iowa, Jo Ellen (Larry) Mullally of Marcus, Iowa, Patricia (Tom) Mullally, and Vicki (Jeff) Lamp of Le Mars, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Buzz is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Hemmelrick; brothers in law: Robert Hagar and Charles Hoffman; maternal grandparents, William and Marie McDermott; and paternal grandparents, Bernard and Anna Gotto.
