Larry Michael , 86, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Larry Arnold Michael, a long time resident of Westfield and Akron Iowa, born 1934, grew up on a farm with his younger brother Bill Michael, and parents Robert Michael and Elaine Olson Michael .💜

Larry graduated from high school in Westfield Iowa in 1951, and continued his education, receiving a Master's  Degree in English and Master's  Degree in Counseling.

He attended Antioch, a private Liberal Arts College, in Yellow Springs Ohio.

He also worked  on live radio at KUSD Radio Station at the University of SD in Vermilion ;where he received both Masters Degrees.

Larry taught school at Lyndon State College in Vermont ,and he taught English at UMOHON Nation Public School, in Macy Nebraska .

Larry enjoyed many types of music, and was an accomplished piano player. He loved entertaining others, and shared his musical talents at churches, and loved entertaining at Nursing Homes.🎶❤️

Larry leaves Bill Michael, his younger brother, and Bill's wife Roxanne Klemme Michael.💕

From Larry's first marriage, he leaves two daughters; Ashley Michael McDonald, from Moberly MO., and Megan Michael Kycek, from Bellingham WA.💕

From his second marriage, his wife Patricia Orris Klemme Michael preceded him in death. Larry leaves Noah Michael, their son and his step children ;Sherri Klemme Skou , from LeMars Iowa, Jill Klemme Heins, from Vermilion SD, and Kelly Klemme , from Richfield Minnesota.💕

Larry also leaves many  beloved grand-children  and great-grandchildren and other family members by marriage.💕

Larry always believed that pictures and memories are far more valuable than money. If you don't have a lot of money to give, then give your time, but remember that time ticks in only one direction and every day is a special, precious gift. Always give your love, because love is the greatest gift of all.

Although his spirit has moved on to a better place, his legacy lives inside all of us that have shared a cup of cocoa, played a game of Scrabble, or just enjoyed  a chat about the world around us.

If we wanted to share our struggles, our aspirations, and even our triumphs he was always there to listen, and give the best hugs too.

What made him special was not just by being family or by being a friend, but also his faith in God, his devotion to do good, and his love.

The best example of a well spent life is to arrive at the finish line with nothing, having spent all your blood and worldly treasures on helping others while you were here on earth. That is an excellent description of how Larry and his late Wife, Patricia left this world.

There are a thousand things that made him special and we would like to welcome everyone to a celebration of life service and an opportunity to tell a short story in what made him special to you.
