Larry Ufken , 85 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Accura HealthCare in Le Mars, Iowa.

Larry John Ufken was born on June 2, 1934 to John and Lila (Ostert) Ufken in Le Mars, Iowa. He was baptized on June 23, 1934 at St. John's Lutheran Church and was also confirmed there on May 16, 1948. Larry attended Le Mars public schools and graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Larry enlisted in the United States Army on June 13, 1955 and was honorably discharged on March 21, 1957. Larry was with the Army National Guard from 1972-1979 and the Army Reserves from 1980 until October 3, 1992 when he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. Larry worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

Larry is survived by his children: Jeanine (Lon) Penning, Jane (Denny) DeRocher, Brad (Vicki) Ufken, and Abigail Johnson; grandchildren: Tyler (Mandy) Penning, Travis Penning, Jay (Amanda) Penning, Kayla (Chris) Koch, Jenna (Ryan) Book, Derek (Elisa) Ufken and Bryce Ufken; 11 great grandchildren; and many cousins and other relatives.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; many aunts and uncles; and two brothers: Robert and Terry.
