Lawrence "Larry" Pritchett, 89, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at home on his farm in Westfield, Iowa, in the loving care of his wife and their three children.

Born on September 1, 1935, Larry was raised in rural areas in and around Plymouth County and attended school in Anthon, Iowa. Larry served in the U.S. Navy for over six years, with a deployment to the Philippines, where he received a commendation for his hard work and dedication. He and his wife Janice (Beitelspacher) were married in 1968 and started their family in Minneapolis, Minnesota before moving to the farm near Westfield in 1975, where they raised their children.

Larry's love for farming was evident in everything he did, especially in his gardening. Each year, he would promise to plant a smaller garden, only for it to grow bigger than ever. His farm was his favorite place to be—a place where he could always be found building, fixing, and improving something on the property. He was a true steward of the land and the animals he cared for over the years.

In addition to gardening, Larry had many interests, including coin collecting. He enjoyed fishing trips with his family to a cabin on West MacDonald Lake in Minnesota, which he built with his father and brother. He was proud of the home he and Jan built on their acreage near Westfield and the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. In his downtime, Larry loved watching Western and action movies. He also had a musical ear and could often be heard humming a tune.

He is survived by Jan, his wife of 56 years; their children: Brenda Pritchett of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, David (Megan) Pritchett of San Jose, California, and Suzan Pritchett (Joe Moose) of Des Moines, Iowa; along with five grandchildren: Nate, Max, Allie, Lola, and Louie; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Pritchett; his siblings: Marijean Hines, Janice A. Pritchett, and Joe (Corene) Pritchett; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Louise Beitelspacher; and several in-laws.

Larry asked that in death, his family and friends quietly remember him in their hearts, without ceremony, just as he lived his life.
