LeRoy Langstraat, 81 of rural Ireton, Iowa, and formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden in rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

LeRoy Keith Langstraat was born on June 24, 1944, to Pete and Elizabeth (Doppenberg) Langstraat in Orange City, Iowa. He grew up in Orange City and graduated from MOC High School. LeRoy worked for a few years at an auto parts shop in Orange City right after graduating. LeRoy then enlisted and began a 20-year career in the Air National Guard. He was stationed in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and then worked primarily in the aircraft environmental shop at the Sioux City Air National Guard Base working on F-100 and A-7D aircraft. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant.

LeRoy was united in marriage to Diane Lubben on August 20, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa. They made their home in Le Mars and raised two sons: Jim and Jeff.

After LeRoy was discharged from the military, he then began working for the United States Postal Service in Le Mars. He retired from the USPS after 20 years in the early 2000s. After his retirement, LeRoy fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to an acreage in rural Ireton. He loved being out in the country and spending his days tinkering around in the garage. He enjoyed bird watching and had several beloved pet cats over the years.

LeRoy was a long-time member of First Reformed Church in Orange City. He and Diane enjoyed camping and traveling with their camper. LeRoy collected a variety of guns; he enjoyed target shooting and handloading ammunition. LeRoy was organized and meticulous with his belongings and paper records. He also had a sweet tooth for chocolate and any sweets Diane made for him.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Diane; sons: Jim (Deb) Langstraat of Elk Point, SD and Jeff Langstraat of Brandon, SD; grandchildren: Manuel ‘Manny’ (Alysha) Langstraat of Bruce, SD and Abbey (Andrew) Cole of Sioux Falls, SD; five great grandchildren: Carson, Grady, Tenley, Porter, and Bristol; brother, Randall Langstraat of Montgomery, Il; sister-in-law, Mary Lubben of Le Mars; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy Langstraat; sister-in-law, Kathryn Langstraat; and brother-in-law, Jim Lubben.
