Lloyd Borchers, 89, of Akron, Iowa, formerly of Craig, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his home in Akron.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Vicar Grace Baumgartel will officiate. Burial with military rites provided by the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Post 725 of Brunsville will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Craig, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Lloyd Darrell Borchers, the son of Louis and Beatrice (Eilts) Borchers, was born on January 10, 1936, at Lutheran Hospital, Sioux City, IA. He was baptized at St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, IA, attended country school just across the road from his house and graduated high school in 1953 in Le Mars. Following high school, he farmed with his dad until October of '55 and then enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country while stationed stateside. Following his honorable discharge in July of '58, returned to farming with his dad in Plymouth County.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lorraine Renken on June 16, 1961, at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Early on, they made their home near Struble, Iowa, before moving to the Eilts Family farm in 1962. After retiring from farming in 1977, he started Better Flo Seamless Gutters and Heat and Glow Fireplace Shop in Le Mars. Then later he worked for Midwest Cattle Oil then Farmers Coop in Craig until his retirement in 2000. After retiring from Craig Coop, Lloyd enjoyed restoring International tractors.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig where he served on the church council and on the cemetery board. He was also a member of the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Post 724 in Brunsville. Lloyd loved his Farmall tractors. He participated in many tractor pulls and tractor parades. He also enjoyed helping out at the Le Mars Toy Store. In his younger years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, golfing, fishing, playing cards, and playing fast pitch softball in Craig. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved watching them participate in all of their activities.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, of Akron, IA; a son: Russell Borchers of North Sioux City, SD, and his children, Eric and Alex; a daughter: Tina (Chuck) Reuter of Le Mars, IA, and their children:  Lynsey, David Hanson and his daughter, Birdie, Zachary Hanson, Jacob (Allison) Hanson and their family, Leighton and Boyd; a daughter: Gina (Scott) Terpstra from Akron, IA, and their son, Jack; and a sister-in-law, Inez Borchers of Craig, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Beatrice Borchers, his father and mother-in-law: Lawrence and Wilhelmina Renken; his siblings: Myron Borchers and Maureen (John) Laux.
