Loretta Catherine 'Tiny' Hoss, 93 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Stonebridge Suites in Le Mars, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the service time on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice (5710 Sunnybrook Drive, Sioux City, IA 51106).

Loretta Catherine 'Tiny' Sherlock was born on February 13, 1932 to Julius and Anna (Nilles) Sherlock in Dell Rapids, SD. Her family moved to south of Remsen, Iowa in 1933 and to south of Oyens, Iowa in 1941. She attended school in both Remsen and Oyens, graduating from Remsen St. Mary's High School in 1950.

Tiny began working for local farming families while she was still in school. She offered childcare and housekeeping services; she enjoyed caring for and becoming a part of their families.

Tiny was united in marriage to Richard Hoss on October 26, 1954 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens. She primarily stayed home while raising their two sons: Bill and David. When the boys were older, she worked for a number of years at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars. She also worked at Tots and Teens clothing store and Carmen's Dress Shop in Le Mars. Richard passed away in 1991 and Tiny continued to live independently on the farm until 1998 when she moved to her condo in Le Mars. Tiny also worked at Brentwood (Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars) for many years; she primarily worked in housekeeping but helped in any way that she could with the residents.  She was selfless and compassionate, always looking to help others.

Tiny loved to play cards: playing in several pinochle card clubs and always challenging family to a game of canasta. She enjoyed gardening; growing both flowers and produce. She was a long-time member of All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters.

She was so proud of her family and loved spending time with them. They made many memorable trips to a family home in Wyoming and she visited her family members twice in Singapore.

Tiny is survived by her two sons: Bill (Susan) Hoss of Sioux City, IA and David (Michael Fiebrich) Hoss of Singapore; two grandchildren: Tiffany Attrill of Seattle, WA and Stacy (Josh) Lundahl of Ankeny, IA; four great grandchildren: Grace, Rowan, Addison, and Bryson; siblings: Julie McElhaney, Cyril 'Cy' (Phyllis) Sherlock, Esther (Tom) Shrader, and Norine (Keith) Harvey; siblings in law: Zelda Sherlock, Claudette Sherlock, Daryl (Karen) Hoss, Carol (Sam) Kessler, Mike Frick, and Bob Cornelson; many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Tiny is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; twin grandchildren, Daniel and Aaron Hoss; siblings: Rosie (Paul) Kurth, Pat (Jan) Sherlock, Ray Sherlock, Jerry (Judy) Sherlock, Helen (Mark) Rolling, Doris (Kenny) Rolfes, Alfred 'Sonny' Sherlock, LeRoy Sherlock and Mary (Bob) Fulton; siblings in law: Jim McElhaney, Donna (Daryl) Wells, Robert 'Bud' Hoss, Helen (Putz) Bruning, JoAnn Frick, Patricia Cornelson, Leonard Hoss,  and Ken (Nita) Hoss.
