Lori Ann Auchstetter was born on November 28, 1962, to Marvin and Marlys (Wallrich) Auchstetter in Iowa. She was raised on the Auchstetter family farm near Hospers, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Spalding Catholic Schools. While in school, she participated in track, basketball, drill and debate team, and worked as a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at the Hospers swimming pool. Lori attended Iowa State University where she graduated in 1981 with a bachelor's in finance.

Lori worked most of her career in insurance, first working at GAB-Robins in Fort Dodge, IA, and Principal Insurance in Des Moines, IA. Lori later moved to Colorado Springs and attended the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, CO where she obtained her master's degree in business administration and management. She then worked at USAA, Triple AAA of Northern California, Nationwide Insurance, and Sedgwick in Colorado as a casualty adjuster.

While living in Colorado Springs, she welcomed her son, Josh Klein. Josh was born in 1995 and became the center of her world. Lori raised Josh in Colorado Springs and then moved to Highlands Ranch in 2016.

Lori had an adventurous soul and enjoyed keeping busy and traveling. Lori had traveled to Europe when Josh was an infant and later, she and Josh took several memorable trips together: visiting Hawaii and France. She loved to hike, visit historical landmarks, and take photos of their trips. She had an eye for photography, which she passed down to Josh.

Lori ran a half marathon in 2007 in San Francisco, and again in 2017 in Florida. She loved to go to the movies, taking Josh to many classic and iconic movies as he grew up.

Lori met the love of her life, Ken Krueger, in November 2017. They were married on July 14, 2022, in Daytona, Florida on the beach. They spent the next few years traveling to many places including Ireland, Las Vegas, Florida, and Deadwood, South Dakota. While not traveling, Lori spent a lot of time volunteering at the Soup Kitchen and the Malley Center.
