Lorraine Kilker, 91 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2019 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Lorraine Mary Pletschette was born on March 4, 1928 to Nicholas and Sadie (Jordin) Pletschette in Le Mars, Iowa. She was raised in Le Mars and attended Le Mars Community Schools. Her first job was working for B&B Dime Store in Le Mars. She then met and married Leonard Kilker on February 16, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They farmed from 1952 -1962 and then moved into Le Mars. Lorraine was primarily a homemaker while her children were young. She then worked again at the B&B Dime Store for a short time before beginning in home daycare. She did daycare for over 20 years and treated those children as her own. Leonard passed away on April 7, 2006. In 2013, Lorraine became a resident of Plymouth Manor In Le Mars.
Lorraine was a member of Christian Mothers and the Fire Bells, a group of firefighter wives, and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed her flower gardens that Leonard took great care of at their home. Lorraine was a great baker and made the best chocolate chip and no-bake cookies! Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, and specifically, her great grandchildren. Lorraine will be remembered as being a kind, thoughtful, and gentle woman.
Lorraine is survived by four sons: Daniel Kilker of Livermore, CO, David Kilker of Brunsville, IA, Timothy (Christi) Kilker of Le Mars, and Richard Kilker of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren: Jason (Ashley) Kilker of Lincoln, NE, and Angela Kilker of Omaha, NE; two great grandchildren: Porter and Scarlett Kilker; sister in law, Rosemary Liesner of Remsen, IA; and many nieces, and nephews.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; children: infant daughter Mary, Thomas, and Patricia; and sister, Evelyn.
