Marcine Hames, 94, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Douglas Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Marcine Agnes Olson, the daughter of Obert and Kathryn (Dwyer) Olson, was born on November 27, 1928, in Wakonda, South Dakota. She attended grade school in Wakonda and high school in Yankton, South Dakota. She graduated from Yankton High School.
While at a dance in Sioux City, she met her future husband, Richard P. Hames. They were united in marriage on October 19, 1949, in Yankton, South Dakota. The couple made their home Le Mars. Marcine worked as a secretary for Dr. Monte Russell in Le Mars for over 29 years. Richard passed away on March 27, 1989.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. Marcine enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and having coffee with her friends.
Survivors include her son in law, Wayne Ahrendt of Sioux Falls, SD; a step grandson, Andy Ahrendt of Omaha, NE; several nieces and nephews; and her close friends, Dennis Bixenman and family from Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard P. Hames; her 4 children: Patricia Hames, Francis Hames, Richard A. Hames, and Susan Ahrendt; and her close friend, Diana Bixenman.
