Marian Bobzien , 92, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Reverend Bruce Lawler from All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation will follow the services on Thursday during a time of lunch and fellowship at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Marian Frances Wilhelmi, the daughter of Franklin and Mary (Bock) Wilhelmi, was born on July 11, 1930 in Struble, Iowa. She attended country school in Plymouth County until moving to Le Mars. She attended high school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. Following high school, she worked as an operator for the phone company in Le Mars.
She was united in marriage to Verlin Bobzien on November 25, 1953. Marian was a homemaker for her family. Verlin worked for railroad, so they moved several times. They first made their home in Stacyville, IA and later in Sioux City. In 1967, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. In 1982, they moved to Sergeant Bluff, IA, until moving to Cherokee, IA. Verlin passed away in 1988. Marian continued to live in Cherokee until moving back to Le Mars in 1998. In 2016, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. Marian enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She enjoyed hosting many get togethers. She also loved butterflies and teddy bears. Her family was her greatest joy, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Kenneth Bobzien from Chicago, IL, Marcia Bobzien from Le Mars, IA, and Susan Bobzien from Colorado; her grandchildren: Katherine (Tyler) Spoon of Omaha, NE, and their family: Brian, Isaiah, Kelly, Nikolai, Patrick, Timothy, and Charlene; Tori (Brad) Meyer of Le Mars, IA, and their family: Raelynn, Roland, and Cian; and Dennis Harvey of Remsen, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verlin Bobzien; her son, Dennis Bobzien; a granddaughter, Kelly Pitts; and several brothers and sisters.
