Marianne Hansen, 82, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars of cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. Reverend Alan Cummings will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
She was born on May 9, 1940 to John and Mary Ellen (VanSteenwyk) Schoep in LeMars. She lived near LeMars, Westfield, and Hinton, and graduated from LeMars High School in 1958. She married Donald Hansen on February 5, 1961.
Marianne had various jobs. She loved working with children. She was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, and a 4-H leader. Her all-time favorite job was teacher's aide at Remsen-Union Elementary School. She later worked in retail, insurance, and H&R Block.
She loved her family, friends and neighbors. Her faith was strong and she cared about everyone. She was always glad to listen and help anyone she could. Though the cancer took away her voice toward the end, her life spoke volumes about loving and being kind to all people.
Survivors include her husband Donald; children Jane (Calvin) Slota, Scott (Pat) Hansen, and Tammy Miles (Pete Calderon); grandchildren Adam (Kim) Slota, Emily (Matt) Rohmiller, Jordan (Bre) Hansen, and Hanna Miles; and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sister Beth (George) Roder, brothers Arden (Diane) Schoep, and Cary (Elaine) Schoep; sisters-in-law Kay Hansen, Darlene Albers, and Debbie Harte.
