Marilyn Laughton, 79 of Le Mars, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Marilyn Theresa Baadte was born on July 11, 1942 in Aurora, Illinois to Albert and Appolonia (Feller) Baadte. Their family moved to Le Mars, Iowa where Marilyn attended Gehlen Catholic Schools. Marilyn graduated high school in 1960 and went on to National Business Training to become a secretary. After college, she began working at Super Sweet Feeds, later known as ADM, and continued to work there until her retirement. Marilyn was united in marriage to Cleo Laughton for over 20 years and they later divorced. Marilyn and Cleo had three children together: Marty, Todd, and Suzanne.
Marilyn loved going to her cabin in Alexandria, Minnesota and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, going fishing, and gambling. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time outside watching her bird feeder. Marilyn loved her beloved cat, Buzzy. Marilyn was a member at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Marty Laughton of Merrill, Iowa, Todd Laughton of Big Stone City, SD, and Suzy (Paul) Wollman of Merrill, Iowa; grandchildren: Wes Bremmer of Kingsley, IA, Dylan Reiter of Minot Air Force Base, ND, Dustan Reiter of Merrill, IA, and Blake (Gracie) Laughton of Iowa City, Iowa; great grandchildren: Michael, Gage, Parker, and Remy; her twin brother, Marcel (Sandra) Baadte of Sun Lakes, AZ; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; significant other of over 35 years, Larry 'Buzz' Gotto; brother, Ron Baadte; and Marty's significant other, Brenda Stinton.
