Marilyn Hoffman, 88, of Le Mars, Iowa, died on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Father Tim Pick will concelebrate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. There will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 3:45 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be directed to All Saints Catholic Parish and Gehlen Catholic School.
Marilyn Margaret Bohlke, the daughter of Edwin and Cecila (Lanners) Bohlke, was born on July 5, 1937, in Le Mars, Iowa. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. Following her schooling, she worked for Becker's Dress Shop, babysat, and helped mothers with their newborn babies.
She was united in marriage to Donald Hoffman on February 17, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. She was a homemaker for her family and helped her husband with the farm. After her children were grown, she went to work as a housekeeper for Brentwood Good Samaritan in Le Mars and later for Floyd Valley Hospital. After her retirement, she volunteered at Park Place Estates and Prime Assisted Living in Le Mars. Don passed away on January 8, 2022.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a past member of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Le Mars Eagle's Club. She enjoyed fishing and spending time at their cabin in Alexandria, Minnesota. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, ceramics, and playing bingo. Watching EWTN was also an enjoyment for her. Her greatest joy was visiting her family, especially her children and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her 6 children: Ron (Jan) Hoffman of Remsen, IA, Sharon (Gary) Fischer of Hinton, IA, Rick (Leslie) Hoffman of Le Mars, IA, Randy (Jody) Hoffman of Le Mars, IA, Terry (Christi) Hoffman of Remsen, IA, and Lisa (Rick) Weber of Alton, IA; 19 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her siblings: Ray Bohlke of Le Mars, IA, and Lois (LaMont) Hageman of Le Mars, IA; her in laws: Arlene (Jerry) Traufler of Le Mars, IA, Judy (Tom) Reuter of Le Mars, IA, Jerry (Judy) Hoffman of Wisconsin, Mary Schumacher of Hamburg, IA, and Delores Bohlke of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Cecila Bohlke; her husband, Donald Hoffman; a son in infancy, Michael Hoffman; a daughter in law, Cami Jean Hoffman; a granddaughter, Angel Hoffman; her siblings: Clayton Bohlke, Rosie (Arnie) Welter, Shirley (Bill) Traufler, Bud (Bonnie) Bohlke, and Darlene (Donald) Thill; and a brother in law, Tom Schumacher.
