Marjorie 'Marge' Black, 87 of Le Mars, Iowa and formerly of Merrill, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Accura Healthcare of Le Mars.

Memorial Service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Bruce Lawler officiating. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and will continue until service time. Masks and social distancing are required. The service will be recorded and uploaded to the funeral home website following the service. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are preferred.

Marjorie Ann Black was born on October 31, 1933 in Oyens, Iowa to William and Leona (Heissel) Puetz. She grew up in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1951. After graduation, Marge began working at Le Mars Mutual Insurance company. Marge was united in marriage to George Black on July 12, 1958 in Le Mars. They lived in Le Mars for a short time before moving to Merrill in 1964. Marge continued to work for Le Mars Mutual until they started their family. Marge and George were parents to seven children: Kevin, Kerri, Konnie, Klare, Kyle, Kurt, and Kris. When the children were older, she began working part time at Kissinger Elementary School in Merrill and the Merrill Public Library. She retired in 1993.

Marge was a long-time member of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill where she was a member of the altar society, was a lector, and taught religious education there for many years. When the church closed, they became members at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She loved music; she enjoyed polka, big band, jazz, and country music. She enjoyed dancing; she and George took dancing lessons together. They loved live music and went to many music events and concerts. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, playing cards, and going for walks. When her children were young, they often enjoyed camping in the Black Hills and later Okoboji.  She also was a Cub Scout leader. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their school and sporting events.

Marge is survived by her husband of 62 years, George; children: Kevin (Susan) Black of Mankato, MN, Kerri (Rod) Petersen of Le Mars, IA, Konnie (Earl Brown) Oordt of Belton, TX, Klare (Bob McCarty) Black of Boulder, CO, Kyle (Joann) Black of Phoenix, AZ, Kurt (Betty) Black of Le Mars, IA, and Kris (Denise Haag) Black of Boulder, CO; 10 grandchildren: Andrea Hessenius, Allie Freking, Alyssa and Breanna Black, Lindsey Kovarna, Logan Black, Kameron and Olivia Black, Leah Baack, and Levi Price; 10 great grandchildren: Silas, Beckett, and Ruthie Freking, Lily, London, and Leo Kovarna, Addison Baack, Arizona Price, Brock and Britt Hessenius; siblings: Mary Ellen Farrin, Thomas Puetz, David Puetz, and Donna Norkitis; siblings in law: Joyce Puetz, Jean Andersen, and Charles (Evelyn) Black; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents; parents in law, John and Amy (Kunhenn) Black; brothers: Francis Puetz and William Puetz; siblings in law: Wayne Farrin, Rose Puetz, Ben Norkitis, Denny Andersen, Edward (Ruth) Black, Jack (Mickey) Black, and Ruth (Bill) Kniseley.
