Marjorie A. Orban, 85 of Merrill, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church-Ellendale in rural Merrill, Iowa. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Marjorie Ann Petersen was born on March 19, 1939 to Carroll and Gladys (Wever) Petersen on the family farm near Pierson, Iowa. She attended Pierson Elementary and graduated from Pierson High School in 1958. She had many wonderful memories of her school years.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Russell James in 1959 and was blessed with three children: Gregory, Douglas, and Sharon. This marriage later dissolved.
On August 6, 1983, Marge was united in marriage to Keith Orban, which also gave her two more daughters: Sheila and Lisa.
Marge retired from driving school bus for Le Mars Community schools after 22 years. Marge and Keith loved to travel and took many bus tours across the country. Marge developed a love of flowers from her childhood growing up on the farm and watching her mother tend their garden. Marge loved to garden and had many beautiful flower beds at her home.
Marge is survived by her husband, Keith; daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Bailey of Lake Jefferson, MN; stepdaughters: Sheila (Tom) Gose of Cedar Rapids, IA and Lisa Orban of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter in law, Vicki James of Le Mars; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Reese Hageman and his children, Willow, Trenton, and Killian, Shelby (Ryan) Noble and their children, Bailey and Nora, Dan (Megan) James and their son, Declan, Amanda (Andy) Rust and their children, Cael, Becket, and Luna, Adam James and Alisha James; special family member, Cortney (Tyler) Bailey; sister, Laura (Roy) Spaulding of Pierson, IA; brothers in law: Eugene (Carole) Orban, Larry (Marge) Orban, Armand (Julie) Orban, and Kenny (Sue) Orban; nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Marge is preceded in death by her parents; parents in law, Frank and Viola Orban; sons: Gregory James and Douglas James; and brother, Robert (Shirley) Jenness.
Marjorie's family would like to thank the staff at both Heartland Care Center and St. Crois Hospice of Spencer for the wonderful care and support Marge and their family received.
