Mark D. Kapfer, 65 of Sioux City, Iowa, entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family after a four month battle with mantle cell lymphoma.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Akron. Mark Dean Kapfer was born on July 21, 1959 in Fort Lee, Virginia to Donald and Vera (Bertrand) Kapfer. He was raised in Akron and graduated from Akron high school in 1978. In his high school years, Mark enjoyed working at the bowling alley in Akron. He continued his education at WIT in Sioux City.

Mark worked primarily in management and trucking. He lived and worked in the Omaha, Kansas City, and Sioux City areas. He was an assistant manager at an auto parts store but most recently worked for over 20 years in trucking. He drove and trained new drivers on how to successfully back up semis and trailers. Mark could easily back up a trailer in a tight spot on the first attempt and under 15 seconds. Mark was proud to have a clean driving record with zero accidents.

When Mark wasn't working, he enjoyed spending his time with his family. He was an awesome brother who never hesitated to help his parents, siblings, or other family. He would do anything for anyone.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, going bowling, fishing, playing pinball and golf. He enjoyed having a big garden and sitting around a firepit during a summer evening.

Mark is survived by his mother, Vera Kapfer of Sioux City, Iowa; siblings: Terry Kapfer of Sioux City, IA, Cindy Kapfer of Sioux City, IA, David Kapfer of Naples, FL, and Lisa (Jay) Heinen of Yankton, SD; nephew, Ryland Balcom; niece, Kaitlyn Balcom; and other extended relatives.

Mark is preceded in death by his father, Donald Kapfer.
