Mark Edmond Leekley, 67 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Unity Point - St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.

Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. - NOON on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.

Mark Edmond Leekley was born on December 29, 1953 to Edmond M. and Virginia L. (Whitaker) Leekley in Westfield, Iowa. Mark was raised in Westfield and graduated from Westfield Community High School in 1972. Mark moved to Colorado for a short time and worked at a meat packing plant. He then moved to Dakota City, SD and later back to the Akron area. Mark worked for many years at IBP and later at KD Feeds, both in Sioux City.

Mark enjoyed playing darts and he played at dart leagues in Sioux City. He also enjoyed playing cards: pitch and pinochle, and reading Western books by Louis L'Amour.

Mark is survived by his sons: Troy (Ryann) Leekley and Mark (Jessica) Leekley, both of Akron, Iowa; daughter, Tracy Queen of Texas; several grandchildren; three sisters: Marcia Dewey, Bonnie (Larry) Nason, and Beth (Steve) Wall; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Virginia; son, Johnny Queen; and brother in law, Jerry Dewey.
