Mark was born on October 6, 1961 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Vincent & Lois (Flom) Seible. Mark graduated from North High School in Sioux City in 1980. He then went on to attend Western Iowa Tech Community College for Auto Mechanic.

Mark was an avid hunter & gear head from a young age. He grew up in Leeds with his neighborhood friends. They were referred to as the “Leeds Boys” and could be found working on the next project car or out on a hunting adventure. One night in 1987 Mark agreed to go out with friends and was surprised with a blind date. A few more dates and a couple months later, Mark and Connie (Harpenau) were united into marriage on May 7, 1988.

Mark & Connie made their home in Merrill, Iowa. Mark worked several jobs throughout his career. He did farm hand work, security at IBP (Iowa Beef Processors), Co-op Mechanic, and owning his own business, Merrill Automotive. He finished his working career at Motor Inn Le Mars in 2002. Mark was always known for finding a good car deal for a fixer-upper and flipping it. Friends and neighbors would stop or call to pick his brain on all kinds of car questions and stories for him.

In 1990, Mark and Connie started their family welcoming a son, then two daughters. Mark loved his kids and was very proud of them. Teaching them the basics of car maintenance, oil changes, and always having a tire pressure gauge in the glove box. In 2002, Mark was in an accident at his work and while being treated in Sioux Falls there were complications and he struggled to walk and work. He was put into an early retirement, which was not his plan.

Mark and Connie moved to Brunsville, Iowa in 2013 as empty nesters. Mark's health continued to decline and he contracted guillain-barre in 2018. He continued to live in Brunsville with Connie as his primary caretaker. In 2023, Mark moved to Good Samaritan nursing home in Le Mars.

Mark was very involved in activities at Good Samaritan and would try to get everyone involved. They asked him to be a part of the Residence council, he was a part of the Bingo crew, Bible Study and helped get started a community garden for the residence. Staff and residents would call him “Mayor Mark” and if anyone had a concern or idea they would talk with Mark to help. If you could not find him in his room, he was notorious for making his rounds down the halls and stopping to chat with friends. Otherwise, if he was in his room he always had company. Staff and residents would go in to chat, vent, ask advice, or just need a good laugh. Always known for his laid back style and friendly attitude. Mark's greatest accomplishment in life was his legacy. He was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren. He would work hard to win at bingo to win them prizes. Always making time to have his ice cream dates with Harper, his oldest granddaughter.

Mark was best described as a sweet, friendly man, who always had a listening ear, and was very patient. In the Auto World you can say he was a good engine but had a bad chassis.

Mark is survived by his wife of 38 years, Connie of Le Mars; son, Jonathan Seible of Charles City, IA; Nicole Seible of Remsen, IA, and her children, Harper and Hazel; and Jennifer Seible of Le Mars, IA; siblings-in-laws: Jack (Donna) Harpenau of Waterloo, IN, Doug (Judy) Harpenau of La Crescent MN, Laurie Lint of Houston, TX, Julie Pottebaum of Alton, IA, Frank (Heather) Harpenau of La Crosse, WI and Rodney (Michelle) Harpenau of Smithville, MO; as well as several nieces & nephews.

Preceded into death by his parents, Vincent & Lois Seible; sister, Diana Jepsen; mother and father in-law, Robert and Jeanette Harpenau; granddaughter, Hensley Mae; and brother in-law, Mike Pottebaum.
