Marlene Feauto, 89, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalope Parish – St. Patrick's Church in Akron. Father Mauro Sanchez will celebrate Mass with Deacon Richard Port assisting. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Parish Rosary. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Marlene Ann Simek, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Hlavac) Simek, was born on April 24, 1935, in Lesterville, South Dakota. She grew up in rural Union County, South Dakota. She attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1954.

She was united in marriage to Orville Feauto on February 19, 1955, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. They lived in Akron for a while before moving to a farm in Plymouth County, Iowa. She worked hard on the farm, putting in a big garden and canning and freezing food. She cooked for her family and also for the hired help. She raised chickens and sold eggs. She also milked cows and sold the milk. Orville passed away on December 25, 2022.

Marlene was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. She was also a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 Auxiliary. She was noted for her chocolate cake. Her love in life was her parents, husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a prayerful person. She loved and prayed for so many people. She also loved to cook, music, art, and dancing.

Survivors include her son, Dennis (Tammy) Feauto of Sioux City, IA; her daughter, Cheryl Beach (fiancé, Scott Hall) of Hawarden, IA; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; her sister, Marie (Myron) Dierks; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville Feauto; and her brothers, Eugene (Mavis) Simek and Mark Simek, and Gary Simek.
