Marlin Osterbuhr, 83 of Akron, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Marlin was born on September 1, 1939 in Akron, Iowa to Otto and Irene (Braun) Osterbuhr. He was raised in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1957. Marlin was united in marriage to Sandra Waterbury on May 28, 1960 in Luverne, Minnesota and they made their home in Akron, Iowa.  Marlin worked various jobs but retired after 45 years as a plant manager for Siouxland Propane.

Marlin was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa where he served as an usher and a trustee. Marlin enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn. Marlin was well known around Akron as a 'handy man'; always willing to repair and fix anything with a smile on his face. He was blessed with three children who he would move heaven and earth for, and even an air conditioner or two. Then finding out having grandchildren and great grandchildren was even better. Marlin and Sandy never missed a chance to cheer on their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in their school and sporting events.

Marlin is survived by his wife, Sandra Osterbuhr; three children: Brenda (Hal) Taylor of Anthem, Arizona, Lisa (Terry) Kool of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Brian Osterbuhr of Glendale, Arizona; two grandchildren: Alisha Saunders of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and Kelsey Kool (fiancé, Christopher Loutsch) of Remsen, Iowa; four great grandchildren: Riley Saunders, Rowin Cannon, Waylon Loutsch, and Adrian John Loutsch; sister, Mary (Bill) Hamilton of Las Vegas, Nevada; many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents;  parents in law, Floyd Sr. and Genevieve Waterbury; and twin sister, Marlene (Eugene) Welch.
