Marlys Harms , 85, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars.  Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.  Visitation with the family present will be after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  There will be a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Good Samaritan Society or All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars.

Marlys Jean Harms was born December 3, 1934 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Theisen) Campbell.  She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Le Mars.  Following high school, she worked as a nurse's aide at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars.

She was united in marriage to Donald Harms on June 7, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars .  They made their home in Le Mars.  Marlys was a homemaker for her family and assisted Don with his trucking business.  After her kids were older, she went to work for Le Mars Community School as a breakfast and lunch server.  Don passed away February 8, 2005.  Marlys continued to make her home in Le Mars.  In March of 2017, she moved to Prime Assisted Living in Le Mars.  In November of 2018, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars and Catholic Daughters.  Marlys enjoyed cooking for family get togethers and for friends.  Over the years, she also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and taking trips with her husband.  Most of all, she loved the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her 8 children: Lynn (Dave) Ruba of Le Mars, Mary (Ron) Morris of Le Mars, Rose (Bob) Ruba of Clarion, IA, Gene (Chris) Harms of Le Mars, Jim (Amy) Harms of Remsen, Julie Sitzmann (Dave Schwarzstein of Des Moines) of Le Mars, Larry (Betty) Harms of Fort Dodge, IA, and Doug Harms (Lori Dolph) of Le Mars; 29 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; her sister: Mary Ann Riley of Lincoln, NE; her in laws: Jenieta Campbell of Le Mars, Mary Campbell of Le Mars, Bev Baker of Le Mars, JoAnne Harms of Le Mars, Edd (Kay) Harms of Wichita, KS, Merlin (Sue) Huls of Le Mars, Ken Harms of Le Mars, Patty (Dave) Hill of Le Mars, and Pat Harms of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Campbell; her husband, Donald Harms; her siblings: Gladys Bridgford, Richard Campbell, Henrietta Campbell, Clifford Campbell, Clarence Campbell, and Leonard Campbell; and a great grandson: Joseph Donald Frerichs .
