Marvin Korver, 96 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Marvin James Korver was born on December 28, 1928 in Orange City, Iowa to Henry M. and Grace (Muyskens) Korver. He attended country school in Sioux County and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1946. Marvin enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea in the infantry from March 1952 to February 1953. He was honorably discharged in May 1953.

Marvin was united in marriage to Norma Bernice De Boer on June 10, 1953 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. Marvin worked as a farm hand and other various jobs before moving to Plymouth County. He worked in soil conservation for two years before moving to the Korver family farm in 1962. Marvin grew crops and raised dairy cattle, beef cattle, and hogs. He continued to work part time in soil conservation during the winter months. In 2000, Marvin and Norma moved into Le Mars. Marvin continued to help his son, Bruce, on the farm and was always interested in keeping up on the farming operation. Marvin was a conscientious steward of the land and farming was always a huge part of his life.

Marvin and Norma loved to travel and did many trips after retiring. They traveled to Israel, Canada, and most of the continental United States along with Hawaii and Alaska. Marvin took many photos of their travel destinations, but he also loved to document their family. He always brought his camera along to the many family holiday gatherings and reunions.

Marvin was a long-time member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars where he was a member of the Le Mars Calvin Quartette for 28 years. He also volunteered his time as an elder and deacon at the church.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 71 years, Norma Korver; four children: Dale Korver of Des Moines, IA, Bruce (JoAnn) Korver of Maurice, IA, David (Rhonda Heston) Korver of SE Kansas, and Mary (Dan) Buckhaus of Montfort, WI; eleven grandchildren: Amanda, James, Emily, Maria, Benjamin, Christy, Rachel, Jon, Justin, Ellie, and Sarah; 21 great grandchildren with two more on the way; sister, Lorraine Brink of Owasso, OK; siblings in law: Irwin (Karen) De Boer and Alvin De Wild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; parents in law: George and Henrietta (Borgman) De Boer; grandson, Kelly Joel Korver; siblings: Wilma (Roger) Petersen, Marlys De Wild, Loretta (Henry) De Haan, and Cornelius 'Case' (Gladys) Korver; siblings in law: Theran (Wilma) (Lillian) De Boer, Audrey (Merlin) Heemstra, Ila (Tunis) Cleveringa, Leon De Boer, Colleen De Boer, and Stan Brink.
