Marvin Kroksh, 91, of Akron, Iowa, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa.  Pastor Janell Norton from the Adaville Church will officiate.  Burial with military honors provided by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery – Adaville, rural Merrill, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday, September 18, 2023, and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at Rexwinkel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Marvin's name to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Marvin Charles Kroksh, the son of Charles and Velma (Oaks) Kroksh, was born on December 29, 1931, on a farm near Westfield, Iowa.  He attended country school near Westfield.  Following his schooling, he began helping his father on the family farm.

He enlisted in the National Guard and shortly thereafter, he was activated to the United States Army.  He served his country during the Korean War.  Following his discharge, he returned to Plymouth County.

He was united in marriage to Carol Bornholtz on June 5, 1955, at the Adaville Church.  Early on, they made their home in Battle Creek, Iowa, where Marvin worked as a farm hand.  After a year and half, they moved to Ireton, Iowa, where he worked for a creamery.  Later, they moved to Little Rock, Iowa, and Marvin continued to work for a creamery.  A few years later, they moved to a farm southeast of Akron, Iowa.  Marvin farmed and raised livestock for many years.  After his retirement, he continued to help his son on the farm.  Carol passed away April 28, 2021.

Marvin was a member of the Adaville Church.  He served on the Pleasant Valley Cemetery board for many years.  He was also a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron.  Over the years, he enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, playing gin rummy with friends, and fishing.

Survivors include his 4 children: Keith (Connie) Kroksh of The Villages, FL, Deb Den Ouden of Akron, IA, Karen Gengler of Sioux Falls, SD, and Randy Kroksh (Diane Haase) of Akron, IA; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Gagnon of Aurora, CO, and Ruth Hoffman of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Lorne Ross; 4 grandchildren: Luke Kroksh, Brittany Kroksh, Tamara Miller, and Michael Gengler; and his son in law, Alan Den Ouden.
