Marvin Henry Urban, 88, passed into eternal glory at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 20, 2025.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton, Iowa with Pastor Alex Kaldahl officiating. A Private Burial with military honors with Heeren-McHale-Wilkens Legion Post 724 of Brunsville will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Orange City Hospice.

Marvin was born on May 6, 1936 to Henry John and Rosie Tillie Emma (Freiberg) Urban on a farm east of Merrill, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1955.

Marvin served his country as a proud member of the Air National Guard for six years and was an active member of the Heeren- McHale-Wilkens Legion Post 724 in Brunsville, Iowa. He received his Quilt of Valor on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2024, for which he was so grateful.

Marv married Shirley Beitelspacher on June 18, 1983. Shirley went to her heavenly home on December 23, 1998.

Marvin was a lifelong farmer and brought in his last harvest in October of 2024. He was a true steward and caretaker of the land. He was the happiest when he was doing field work and he resided at his farm place for more than 73 years. His farm machinery was carefully and mindfully taken care of, he could fix anything!

Marv was a devout Christian and long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in rural Hinton, Iowa. He held multiple positions and served on many committees within the church. Serving his Lord and Savior was a source of joy for him.

Marvin is survived by his sister, Arlene Urban; very special friend, Joyce Willer; niece and nephew in law, Shelly (Tim) Moore; nephew, Jeff Powell (special friend, Linda Frei); many great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and nieces: Kathy Powell and Roxanne Powell.

Marvin's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Orange City Hospice and Pastor Alex Kaldahl for their generous outpouring of support and care, and to the Orange City Healthcare System who made such a difference for Marv.
