Maynard Lang , 94, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church, L.C.M.S. in Le Mars. Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate. Social distancing and wearing a mask are requested. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Social distancing and wearing a mask are requested. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com . The services will be posted to the funeral home website following the funeral.
Maynard Gussie Reinholdt Lang was born October 2, 1926 in Hinton, Iowa, the son of Christian "Chris" and Clara (Krause) Lang. He attended Lincoln #4 country school in Plymouth County, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Mae Jensen on February 26, 1949 in Hinton, Iowa.
Maynard farmed near Hinton, Iowa for 10 years. In 1960, he went to work for Fullerton Lumber in Sioux City and later was transferred to Manson, Iowa to manage a Fullerton Lumbar yard. In 1968 he went to work for Structural Design in Holstein. While in Manson and Holstein he was a volunteer fireman. In 1971 he moved to Le Mars and worked for Lumberman's Millwork. Maynard continued with Lumberman's Millwork until he started working as a salesman for Lampert Lumber in Le Mars where he worked until he retired at the age of 65. In March of 2019, Maynard and Bonnie became residents of Park Place Estates in Le Mars. Bonnie passed away June 20, 2019.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars where he had served as congregation President and Elder. He also ushered for many years and assisted with the building of the new church. Over the years, he enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his 3 children: Vicki (Wayne) Buck of Poinciana, FL, Cheryl Cronin of Le Mars, IA, and Kevin Lang (Amber Thelen and her children, Aaron and Aiden) of Estherville, IA; 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lori) Buck and their children, Whitson, Langley, and Larsen; Crystal (Derek) Oglesby and their children, Joshua and Caleb; Keith (Ashley) Cronin; and Kari (Shane) Wallace and their children, William, Clara, and Anna; his brother, Cecil (Carol) Lang of Hinton, IA; his brother in law: Lyle Jensen of Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Clara Lang; his father and mother in law, Julius and Elsie Jensen; a son in law, Daniel Cronin; his sister and her husband, Maycele (Elroy) Heimgartner; and his in laws, Kathy Jensen, Marilyn (Ralph) Moore, Wesley Dierking, and Gwen Jensen.
