Michael 'Mike' Harvey, 63, of Akron, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his home in Akron.

Private family services will be held at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.  There will be a public visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Akron Fire Station.  The family will be present from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The final page for Firefighter Mike Harvey will be at 3:00 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Michael Dean Harvey, the son of Kenneth and Alice Harvey, was born on March 21, 1960, in Akron, Iowa.  He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School.

Mike worked in the trucking industry from high school to his present employment at L.G. Everist in Akron.

Mike served on the Akron Fire Department from 2000 to 2017.  For many of those years, he served as the Safety Officer for the department.

He enjoyed spending his free time making memories with his family and friends.  You could find him out fishing whenever he could, catching anything he could catch…even if it was a nap!  He also loved hunting for pheasants with his late pup, "Miley", and his grand pup, "Dot".

Survivors include his children: Jessica (Matt) Minor and their children, Ashton, Alyssa, and Ayden, Amanda (Travis) Bye and their children, Nora and Cooper, and Aaron Harvey and his daughter, Alice; his siblings: Connie Bakker and Rick Harvey; his girlfriend, Justy Rush and her children, Shaina, Blake, Garrett, and Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alice Harvey; and his daughter, Andrea Harvey in infancy.
