Michael A. Dreckman , of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of 65.  He was able to spend his last moments with his wife, Mary Kay at MercyOne Siouxland Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.

Mass of Christian Burial will 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars.  Reverend Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass.  Private family burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.  Visitation with the family present will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  There will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary and a 4 ^th Degree Chalice Service.  Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Michael Dreckman Memorial Fund and given to the family or through Iowa State Bank in Le Mars.  Mike would be more honored for the support of the memorial fund than flowers (he never liked flowers or plants!).

Mike was born on July 3 ^rd , 1956, to Vincent and Leota (Rolfes) Dreckman. As a boy, he lived on the family farm north of Le Mars with his many siblings.

Throughout his years of growing up on the farm, Mike enjoyed the opportunities to have tomato fights with his brother Tim in the garden, shooting pellet guns at random animals, being picked on by sisters, canning everything his mother planted in the garden, and doing every chore possible before going to school. In recent years, he built his dream home on his old farmland to be able to watch his nephews continue the family legacy through combining the fields behind his home.

As a young man, he learned to work hard and to give forth his best effort. Whether Mike was playing basketball with his bright green converse shoes in basketball, shoveling manure, and bailing hay, he appreciated every opportunity to help someone out. His work ethic played a prominent role through his careers at Supersweet Feeds, ADM Alliance Nutrition, and Branch Manager at Iowa State Bank in Le Mars.

In 1973, he met the love of his life, Mary Kay Campbell. They became inseparable almost immediately. Following their graduation from Gehlen Catholic in 1974, they began going on double dates with Bob and Lisa (Dreckman) Puetz, cruising the dirt roads around Le Mars, going on trips around the country, and watching their favorite TV shows every night. Mike did not want to spend time with anyone else.

Mike and Mary Kay raised three beautiful children, Cheri, Tony, and Christina. Nothing brought more joy to his heart than watching his children compete in sports, use their gifts, and grow up honoring God.

But Mike's biggest pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Chandler, Logan, Dayton, Sidney, Alexis, and Kayl. He instilled in them humility, respect, kindness, selflessness, and love.

Mike loved many things in his life. Watching his beloved Notre Dame Fightin' Irish play football on Saturdays, refereeing under the Friday Night Lights with his favorite crew, playing golf with one of the Puetz boys on Wednesdays or with his family on the weekends. He loved taking road trips with Mary Kay to visit family all over the country and taking vacations with close family. It did not matter if he was at the movie theater, fair grounds, sporting events, or amusement parks, you would always find him enjoying a nice, big bag of popcorn. Spending time on a mower and caring for his lawn was another passion. Throughout his many travels and interactions with people, Mike has never met a stranger. We cherish his ability to smile and laugh with everyone he met. But most of all, he treasured spending time with his grandkids, playing any kind of game where he got to make the rules, watching them compete in sports and various activities.

Out of all the events and activities, Mike's absolute favorites were the 4 ^th of July and Christmas. He insisted all fireworks were fired off in honor of him for his birthday. You will never meet another man who looked like a kid in a candy store trying to find the perfect firework. His big belly laugh lasted well into the night as we watched the sky light up. He would constantly say, "Man, that was soooo cool. How many more can we do?" Christmas had a special place in his heart. It was time that he knew family would always get together to laugh, play games (where he still made the rules), ate too much food, watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, bought Mary Kay a gift even after they agreed to not get each other anything, and receiving his annual gift of the family calendar.

Mike lived a life full of selflessness. He always did his best to make everyone feel welcome. He created an atmosphere of laughter, joy, friendship, and comfort. Mike hated being recognized for his gifts and actions because he knew he would not have accomplished anything without the help of family, friends, and co-workers. He used every opportunity in his life to teach and raise up other leaders. Therefore, he loved serving on with the Knights of Columbus, as junior high basketball coach at Gehlen Catholic, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Gehlen Ball, and Siouxland Officials Association. He wanted everyone to work hard and give their best effort. Mike encouraged and taught us all a great lesson about enjoying the little things in life. He did not care for the glamor and glory. He only cared about who we become as people. Because of all this, he created a saying for his grandchildren. He would point his finger at them, as they left his home, and say, "Be good."

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Kay of Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Cheri and Tim Brunsting of Hull, Iowa, and their children, Chandler (Taylor), Logan, and Dayton; a son and his wife, Tony and Tia Dreckman of Bloomsburg, PA, and their daughter, Kayl; a daughter and her husband, Christina and Steve Nash of Iowa City, IA, and their children, Sidney and Lexi; his siblings: Patricia Henrich, Faye Hogan, Vicki (Dave) Hentges, Ted (Linda) Dreckman, and Ann (Ed) Reising; in laws, Barb Dreckman Nieman, Bob Campbell, and Janet (Mike) Sorensen; his mother in law, Jenieta Campbell of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Leota Dreckman; his siblings: Ronald (Sheila) Dreckman, Debra Gergen, and Tim Dreckman; a brother in law, Bill Hogan; his sister in law, Debra Campbell; and his father in law, Clarence Campbell.
