Michael Gengler, 28 of Sioux Falls and formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2019 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church. Michael Phillip Gengler was born on June 29, 1991 to Richard and Karen (Kroksh) Gengler in Sioux City, Iowa. Michael was raised in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 2010. Michael had been working as a realtor in Sioux Falls for Hegg, REALTORS Inc. He truly enjoyed his job, especially the flexible schedule that allowed him to spend time with his children. Michael's children, Grayson and Charlotte, were the most precious people in the world to him. He was an amazing father and his world revolved around them.  Some of their favorite activities together were going to the zoo, going to parks, and teaching them how to ride a bicycle. Family was very important to Michael; and whether it was spending time with his children, going to family get-togethers and holidays, or just making sure he stopped at his grandparents' homes while in town – he always made an effort to put family first.

Michael will be remembered as a kind, caring, empathetic, and thoughtful man.  He had a love for animals, especially his own dog, Mo. He loved listening to music and preferred current rap and hip-hop songs.  He was a huge Oakland Raiders fan and loved spending his Sundays watching football with his mom. Michael had a positive, happy attitude and always had a smile on his face.

Michael is survived by his children: six year old son, Grayson, and three year old daughter, Charlotte; fiancé, Hilary Bork; father, Richard (AnnaBelle) Gengler of Le Mars; mother, Karen Gengler of Sioux Falls; siblings: Cassandra (Todd) Foster of Sioux Falls, Austin Gengler of Springfield, South Dakota, Zachary Gengler of Chicago, Illinois, and Jacob (Brittany Trometer) Gengler of Le Mars; step brother, Adam Stanley, Sioux City, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Mike and Marlene Gengler of Le Mars; maternal grandparents, Marvin and Carol Kroksh of Akron, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Michael is preceded in death by his cousins: Tamara Den Ouden, Luke Kroksh, and Brittany Kroksh.
