Mildred Armstrong , 73, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Morningside Assembly of God in Sioux City, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date in Omaha Valley Cemetery near Homer, Nebraska. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Mildred Marie Rich was born May 28, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Luella (Hiserote) Rich. She grew up in Dakota County, Nebraska, and attended school.
She was united in marriage to Daniel Armstrong Sr on October 26, 1963. They made their home in Sioux City. Mildred worked in housekeeping for many years. They later divorced but remained best friends. As her health began to fail, her son, Daniel Jr was her caregiver.
Mildred enjoyed crocheting, especially baby blankets, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. But most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them in all their activities and events.
Survivors include her 4 children: Dana Armstrong of Sioux City, IA, Christine Johnson of Sioux City, IA, Daniel Armstrong Jr of Sioux City, IA, and Troy (Laura) Armstrong of Westfield, IA; 5 grandchildren: Dusty (Anna) Johnson of Dakota Dunes, SD, and their children, Caiden and Briella, Hunter Armstrong of Minneapolis, MN, Jeremiah Armstrong of Johnston, IA, Joshua Armstrong of Westfield, IA, and Jacob Armstrong of Westfield, IA; her sister: LaVonne Campbell of Bellevue, NE; 3 brothers: Vern (Hilda) Rich of Fort Smith, AR, Merle (Eleonor) Rich of Des Moines, IA, and Tom (Judy) Rich of Whiting, IA; her best friend: Daniel Armstrong Sr of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Luella Rich; and a brother in law: Wesley Campbell.
