Mildred Moir , 95, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Le Mars Bible Church in Le Mars. Pastor Fred Gums will officiate. Private family burial will be Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Le Mars Bible Church. Social distancing and wearing a mask will be required. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Services will be uploaded to the funeral home website following services. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .
Mildred Ilene Borchers was born November 10, 1925 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of George and Katherine (Hauschild) Borchers. She was raised in Liberty Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa. She attended Liberty Consolidated School and graduated in 1941. She attended Western Union College in Le Mars where she received her teaching certificate. She taught for a year at Liberty Consolidated, 3 years in Onawa, IA, and 3 years in Cleghorn, IA.
She was united in marriage to Donald Moir on January 14, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Merrill, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Merrill. Mildred was a homemaker for her family. In 1973, she went to work for Younker's in Sioux City. She retired in 1985. Don passed away February 7, 2002. In October of 2007, Mildred moved to Floyd Valley Apartments in Le Mars. In the fall of 2018, she became a resident at Park Place Estates Assisted Living in Le Mars.
Mildred was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Merrill, Iowa where she played the organ for several years. She was also active in the ladies aide and taught Sunday school. She was currently a member of the Le Mars Bible Church. Mildred was a volunteer at the Le Mars Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, especially pinochle, and playing bingo.
Survivors include her 4 children: Dave (Carmen) Moir of Le Mars, IA, Lynn Moir of Maurice, IA, Donna Lozer of Struble, IA, and Larry Moir of Merrill, IA; 3 grandchildren: Aron (Jaime) Moir of Ankeny, IA, and their children, Kate, Zach, and Owen; Christopher Moir (Eleanor Lofte) of Huxley, IA, and Sara Moir (Erik Becerra) of Le Mars, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine Borchers; her husband, Donald Moir; a brother in infancy, Kenneth Borchers; and a son in law, Dan Lozer.
