Mildred Wagner , 94, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Private family services will be held in Le Mars.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com .

Mildred Mae Smith was born August 19, 1927 in Central City, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Bertha (Rich) Smith.  She attended school in Central City and graduated from Central City High School.  Following high school, she attended the Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she received her teaching certificate.  She taught country school near her home for a few years.

While attending a dance in Remsen, Iowa, she met her future husband, Donald Wagner.  They were united in marriage on February 15, 1949 in Central City.  The couple made their home on the Wagner family farm east of Le Mars.  Mildred was a homemaker and helped Donald on the farm.  Together, they raised 6 children: Janiece, Edward, Meredith, Ladonna, Merlin, and Stuart.  Donald passed away November 6, 1982.  Mildred continued to make her home in Le Mars until 2005, when she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to her family.

Mildred enjoyed sewing, baking, and catering.  She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed watching them participate in events and activities.

Survivors include her children: Janiece Martin of Omaha, NE, Meredith McKenzie of Bennington, NE, Ladonna Wagner of Omaha, NE, and Merlin (Roxanne) Wagner of Le Mars, IA; 9 grandchildren: Chris Klohs, Sherri Durst, Steven McKenzie, Travis McKenzie, Corey Wagner, Cole Wagner, Crystal Wagner, Micah Wagner, and Eli Wagner; 8 great grandchildren; a brother: John Smith of Buffalo, MO; and several niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Wagner; two sons: Edward Wagner and Stuart Wagner; a great granddaughter: Avery Durst; and her siblings: Harold Smith, Harlan Smith, and Leo Smith.
